Rose You R So Hot! Posted by Picasa

More Than a Cousin

Well we were all blessed here at Green Gables with a visit from Rose and her boy-friend Murray. It's been a few months since she moved out and it was amazing how quickly we all felt right at home again as we sat down to let ourselves get absorbed into a double header of Lost. Boy that show is creepy! Anyway her presence last night and departure today made me realize how much I miss her and how much our kids miss her. She's so much more than just a cousin to them, she's part of our family, more like a big sister. Coming down the stairs with Christopher and seeing them all on the bed surrounding her trying to soak up every second of her presence was priceless. To me she is also much more than a niece, more like a friend. Rose I love you. Murray you had better treat her right or I'll break your knee-caps. Of course the real unanswered question would be why oh why is Frances so freaked out by Murray. Other than a feather boa nothing scares this girl but she definitely felt intimidated by his presence.

Frances Aileen turns Two!!!!!!!!

Well this is a long time coming, her birthday was acutally August eleventh and I have been seriously remiss in my posting business. I wanted to get her pictures ready to post as well as getting my thoughts together when things got extremely busy the result being that it just did not get done. What with the new baby, and my tooth getting pulled it's just been craziness and reporting on her has not been a possibility until now.

So Frances is finally two, and a real rascally two at that. For those of you who are deprived of knowing her let me share what a delight this little girl is. She is full of spunk and spice, loves to tease and annoy her sister Elizabeth, loves to kiss and hug her baby brother and loves to sing and dance. She doesn't really have any favorite toys, she plays with everything and anything. However she does enjoy drawing, with pens, make-up, crayons, markers anything she can get her hands on and then she draws everywhere; the walls, the furniture, the toys, the computers, absolutely everywhere. She also really enjoys books, she will wander around with them and then spend hours sitting by herself examining the pictures and reading to herself. She loves to laugh, and eat, and run outside, she is always full of joy and only is really grumpy when she is sick and overtired.

Lately she has been a little sadder since Elizabeth started school. She's not used to the quiet and she's such a busy little girl that she seems bored until the girls get home and she again has someone around to annoy. She is a very fast and busy little girl and keeps me hopping for sure. She is the one that manages to get into everything and if there is trouble to be done she is the one doing it. Gil and I always joke that she is the one the school will phone us about that is bullying and creating chaos and mahem in the school. She will be the one that sneaks out in the middle of the night and has us all chasing our tails.

She has always been my fast child, my determined child, my joyful child. She was my easiest pregnancy, I only gained 16lbs with her and I was only sick at the beginning. I kept my energy up through-out the pregnancy and she was also the easiest delivery mainly because she was the fastest delivery. I went into labour early in the morning and after only three contractions I knew that the time was fast approaching when she would be here. I woke Gil up early in the morning telling him we needed to go and he said "Where?", letting me know just how tired he was. Once it finally dawned on him that I was in labour, it only took him a few minutes to be up and ready to go. We arrived at the hospital along with three other women all of us thinking labour was in progress. The nurse however did not believe that I was actually in labour and offered me some Demerol to ease the pain while she suggested that Gil go and get himself some breakfast. Of course when you tell a woman that she is not in labour after she has already had two kids and knows what she is talking about it tends to make her a little annoyed and I was no exception. When Gil came back from getting his breakfast tray I let him know just how annoyed I was, I think the words were -- "if i'm not in labour it means my insides are about to explode." The nurse had given me a shot of demoral five minutes earlier and she suddenly returned wondering who was making the noise. I'll give you a clue, it was me unable not to make noise due to the amount of pain I now found myself in, when she realized this she checked me again and announced she could see the baby's head crowning. "AHA!!!!So I am in labour!!!!!!!!"

Of course because she didn't believe me until she saw the proof we were all now in trouble. I was not admitted yet, and therefore not in the delivery room. They proceeded to move me and because we had to move quickly I had to walk which under the circumstances was extremely difficult. I managed to make it down the hall when my water broke, and the nurse started yelling for the doctor explaining the baby was coming now. Gil barely made it to my side when with one push there she was and at 6lbs 9 ounzes she was also my smallest baby. She still is on the small size, with a little tiny voice, curly hair and green eyes that are constantly full of mischief.

I used to think she was my strong earth baby, but since Christopher has been born my mind has changed and I realize that she is my wind baby. You never know when or where she's coming from. Sometimes she's quiet and other times she whirls around like a twister reaking havoc and chaos in her path. She can be like a breeze that's cooling and enjoyable or howl like the wolves and every day is a surprise. She is also my most determined child. She never gives up on anything, she knows if she persists she will eventually suceed and so unlike her sisters she will try and try again no matter how many times she falls. This amazing characteristic helped her learn how to crawl and walk and is now helping her learn how to talk. Unfortunately when she wants something she also doesn't give up and that can make keeping order at Green Gables a very difficult thing indeed.
